Byrne's Tavern
About This Spot
Byrne’s Tavern sits quietly at the corner of Richmond Street, a welcoming pulse in Philadelphia’s Port Richmond neighborhood. Step inside and you’re immediately enveloped by a sense of familiarity—a cozy, lived-in warmth that feels less like a pub and more like someone’s well-loved living room. The hum of friendly chatter mingles with the clink of glasses, while the bar’s unmistakably Philly character shines through both in its décor and its people.
Time moves at its own steady rhythm here, inviting you to slow down and settle in whether you’re grabbing a drink, sharing a meal, or simply soaking up the local energy. The space balances intimacy with a lively spirit; there’s room for quiet conversation on the high-top tables by the bar, as well as hearty laughter filling the separate dining room where groups gather over plates meant for sharing.
The true heart of Byrne’s Tavern, though, is how it makes you feel—welcomed like a neighbor. The kitchen echoes that warmth by turning out food that feels carefully crafted yet unpretentious, the kind that comforts and satisfies without fuss. Wings fall off the bone with just the right touch of spice, while sandwiches and pizzas carry that unmistakable sense of homegrown flavor, each bite a small celebration of the neighborhood. Whether it’s game day with friends or an ordinary evening, the tavern offers a backdrop that’s as familiar as it is special.
For those who lean into the local rhythm, Byrne’s is more than just a stop for a drink or a meal; it’s a place where stories unfold, friendships are rekindled, and moments linger a little longer. Here, the tradition of the corner bar lives on—authentic, unassuming, and brimming with character.

Byrne's Tavern, above all else, is the coziest and most welcoming bar/restaurant I know. Their delicious wings, crabs, sandwiches, and pizzas are all prepared with love, and their front of house is so unapologetically Philly—from the staff to the decor. I feel right at home! Byrne's makes the best wings in Philadelphia. They fall right off the bone, and they come drenched in the most perfectly balanced, tangy and spicy house-made buffalo sauce. It's the only sauce option they have, so you KNOW it's good. They have a sizable menu, but I haven't tried a lot of their food yet because every time I'm there, I can't help but just eat an ungodly amount of wings. If you're planning on visiting this place, do yourself a favor and try the wings!

Best bar I’ve been to in the Philadelphia area. Amazing staff. Fantastic food. Everything a small local pub should be. Great Guinness and wings. Can’t go wrong here. Never had a bad experience in the 8 years I’ve been going here

Great Phila neighborhood bar (Port Richmond). Perfect corner bar. Always good food. Bar for drinks and football-has bar seats and hightop 4 person tables in bar area. Separate room for sitdown eat in tables. Interesting character and locals. Friendly bar service and right on a refill!! Great place to watch the Eagles. Plenty of parking. Love that the menu says well behaved children welcome! While I was there one parent had to leave w kids cause they were carrying on and making loud noise! (Not sure if left on own or asked to leave). Yeah!!! Love it. Best wings around. My friends rave about the potato logs. Smallest bathroom I've ever had to squeeze into .

This place is awesome. Classic Philly pub, fall off the bone, mouth watering wings. Waitress was awesome. We had come from Yay Clay about a mile away, just a great afternoon.

Small town vibe right by the river. Treat you like family. Good food, good conversation, and they have Heineken 0.0 which is a huge plus for me personally. Any 1 star review is just bitter. Ask for Maureen she's the bomb.

Visiting from Phoenix, AZ and I've been here twice now! The wings are so tender and the sauce is delicious. The crab logs are to die for. Any time I'm in the area I ask my partner to take me here, highly recommend and can't wait to go back.
